Students must notify IRCC when they are transferring from one DLI to another, even if it is at the same level of study. They must make sure that the school they want to transfer to is on the DLI List.
Students need to ensure that they continue to meet conditions of their study permit, as well as the conditions that allow them to work, if applicable.
If the institution loses its status as a DLI after a student has already been issued a study permit, they can do one of the following:
• They will be able to pursue the program of study that they are enrolled in for the duration of their current permit; and
• They will be able to renew their study permit in order to complete their program.
If you want to apply for an initial study permit and the post-secondary school you want to attend is not in the DLI List, you cannot submit an application for a study permit.
All primary and secondary institutions in Canada are automatically designated and do not appear on the DLI List.
